Testing & Re-Design

With such a project, the testing of systems which were integral to achieve the tasks in the project brief was required to view if the designs were suitable. This mainly centred on the lift mechanism and drive system once the assemblies had been completed.

Some modifications of components were expected whether it be down to unforeseen issues or errors due to manufacturing. Whenever possible, a re-design was implemented into the shuttle design whilst maintaining an emphasis on keeping the model as cost effective as possible. Furthermore, modifications were optimised as much as possible regarding the resources available, how efficient they would be and using the resources the team had available.

In some cases, a re-design or modification was recommended but not necessarily implemented into the radio shuttle. Such a scenario would surround a test which was deemed successful but would perhaps fail at some point in the future unless modified. So, while this was acceptable for our prototype, an advanced model closer to industry standards would have to include these recommended alterations.

In the following sections, the process to re-design and testing for the project is laid out.
